CA Technologies
Broadcom acquired CA
CA Technologies (Now Broadcom) divested their internet security division, and as a new internet security company, they needed a brand that would allow them to stand out and compete against industry leaders. After naming the company, we led a team of specialists to build a new brand anchored around a “beyond” the category strategy. While competitors focused on selling features and software, we positioned Total Defense as more than just internet security—differentiating the company through a relentless commitment to protect customers’ digital lives with a multi-layered offering of software, services, and support that goes Beyond Protection.
Connecting past, present, and future
A Legacy Renewed for Modern Times
Since 1938, Hutzler has been producing some of the finest house and kitchenware in the market. While their products are recognized globally, their brand identity lacked the same recognition. As a family-owned and operated business for over 70 years, Hutzler sought our expertise to refresh their brand, connecting their rich heritage with a clear vision for the future.
Our Approach
Innovative Branding and Engaging Content with Michael Strahan & John Walsh (America's Most Wanted)
Leveraging our expertise in branding, packaging, digital transformation, and creative content, we helped Total Defense disrupt the market and connect with consumers in a memorable way.
Services Provided:
01 Branding
Establishing a strong brand identity that goes beyond protection
Inspired by the layers of protection from a Roman centurion’s armor, we established the tagline “Beyond Protection” and developed a brand known for its multi-layered approach to safeguarding digital lives. This positioning differentiated Total Defense from competitors by emphasizing a comprehensive commitment to customer security through software, services, and support.
02 Packaging
Designing standout packaging for retail success
To stand out on crowded retail shelves against well-known internet security providers, we designed packaging that looked like “pentagon-level security.” Sleek and utilizing a bold color palette with silver foils and raised embossing, the packaging attracted shoppers’ attention and encouraged them to pick up the product. The tactile design allowed customers to feel the multiple layers within the shield, reinforcing the brand’s promise of comprehensive protection.
03 Digital Transformation
Modernizing digital platforms for enhanced user experience
At the heart of the brand redesign was the entire digital ecosystem. We modernized the company’s e-commerce website, product interface design, partner portals, email programs, landing pages, and social media properties. This cohesive digital presence improved customer engagement, simplified user journeys, and streamlined business processes.
04 Video Content
Disrupting the category with memorable video campaigns
To position Total Defense’s products and services to everyday people in an approachable manner, we produced a series of engaging videos featuring well-known personalities. We enlisted the help of Michael Strahan and John Walsh to educate audiences about the dangers of internet security. Our team managed the entire process from concept through full production, creating impactful content that resonated with both consumers and B2B audiences.
“Geekhan”
Introducing “Michael Geekhan,” portrayed by Michael Strahan—the toughest defender on the gridiron, now teaching businesses how to defend against the toughest online threats.
“Bad Cops”
To capture attention and differentiate the Total Defense brand, we paired John Walsh and Michael Strahan as “bad” cyber cops in a series of humorous and informative videos.
“Pep Talk”
Michael Strahan teamed up with sportscaster Ian Eagle to inspire sales reps in the tech channel, motivating them to get excited about the new Total Defense brand.
Product Videos
We extended the campaign to include product-specific videos featuring our dynamic duo, providing easy-to-understand explanations of Total Defense’s offerings and benefits.
